Quality Assured Practitioner

The private physiotherapy organisation, Physio First, in conjunction with the University of Brighton offered private physiotherapists to be part of the Quality Assured Practitioners (QAP) scheme. This scheme enabled physiotherapists in private practice to benchmark their outcomes and demonstrate quality of their treatment.

In order to be eligible for QAP status Antonia had to input a minimum of 50 discharged patients within one year and reach the standards proposed by both Physio First and the University. These standards were based on five criteria and were statistically derived based on analysis of the national data set.  The criteria were:

Waiting time for an appointment where based on the current national data set was less than 4.05 days, Antonia achieved 2.6 days.

Change in Functional, Physical and Subjective (FPS) scores pre and post treatment and this score had to be greater than 2.23. Antonia’s outcome was 2.95.

Number of Treatments between 2.47 and 4.18 treatments per episode. Antonia achieved 3.67 treatment sessions.

Goal achievement of 31.7% or more patients should have exceeded or fully achieved their goals on discharge. Antonia achieved 43.3%.

Outcome of Referral where 47.9% of patients should have had their treatment completed where their goals were fully achieved or exceeded. Antonia achieved 71.7% with her patients.

In order to be eligible for QAP status at lease three of the five criteria had to be achieved by Antonia. She achieved all five standards of the criteria and was therefore awarded with Quality Assured Practitioner Status on 5th October 2017.

Antonia will continue to partake in this scheme for the year 2017/2018 and hopes to maintain her QAP status for years to come.
